All about Oil: Pre Poo with Oil, Oil Rinising, Oil Washing, Oil Pulling

You may be asking what in the heck is she talking about. I am talking about just a few way that you can use oil for health and beauty

Pre-Poo ( Treatment before Shampooing)

Pre-pooing is for your hair. I use oil as a treatment before shampooing. I use Alma Oil which is an India oil. Now it does have a strong scent but it is a wonderful oil. It has been knew to make your hair darker and shiner. I will put this on my hair with some conditioner and let it sit for a hour or so with a plastic bag on my head. This treatment makes my hair soft and counteracts the harshness of the shampoo.

Oil Rinsing

Oil Rinsing is what you do after shampooing and before conditioning. After rinsing the shampoo out you put some oil in your hand and then on your hair. For this I have been experimenting and using olive oil but I have also started using mustard oil as well. I don't have a verdict on which is best for I have been using olive oil for about 1 month and just started using mustard oil which is suppose to be good for shine and split ends. After putting the oil on your hair you rinse with as hot as you can water for about 10 - 15 minutes and then proceed with your conditioner.

Oil Washing

Oil Washing is for your face. I have been doing this for about 3 to 4 months and I don't even use soap anymore. This is so simple that it scary. The best oil to use for this is Castor Oil and Olive Oil. I have a small jar that I use and I mix the two oils together. Then twice a day both morning and night I put the mixed oil on my dried face. If it is at night I will take off my makeup with baby wipes first. After applying the oil I will jump in the shower and do my thing. Upon getting out of the shower I will use a hot wash cloth and let it sit on my face for a few seconds, I repeat wetting the wash cloth and then I wash the oil off. Let me tell you my face has never felt better. I had oily skin but now you couldn't tell it. I also don't have breakouts like I use to. This is truly the best thing that has happened to me.

Oil Pulling

Now Oil Pulling I have just started this week. It sounds crazy but from what I have heard it works. Before I tell you what it is and how you do it let me tell you some of the benefits
  • Whiter teeth
  • Fresher breathe
  • The absence of bleeding gums
  • Loss of appetite
  • Clearer skin
  • Less blotting
Now what I am about to post may sound crazy and you will be like Girl, you done gone and lost your mind there is no way this will work but it does. I have only been doing this for 3 days and I have already see some benefits. I have a major problem with bleeding gums but I haven't had that problem since oil pulling. Now oil pulling is suppose to detox your system and I do have that detox feeling. The same feeling that I had when I when I quit smoking.

Ok OK I will now tell you how to do this oil pulling. Are you ready? All you do is first thing in the morning before you brush your teeth or drink anything you put some oil in your mouth and swish it around. You leave it in your mouth for 20 minutes swishing all that time. Make sure that you get it in and around your teeth and under your tongue making sure not so swallow any of it. That's all folks. Oil in your mouth first thing in the morning. Now the suggested oils to use is sunflower and sesame oil. I don't have either so I have been using coconut and Castor oil. If one oil doesn't work you can try another one. I have read that Olive Oil is good but with extended use it can turn your teeth brown.

I know that it sounds crazy but it won't hurt to try it and who knows you may actually get some benefits from it.

This is an excellent website that can give you more detail information on oil pulling : www.oilpulling.com

Do your research and give it a try for a month. Come back and let me know what you think. I will continue to update for results in the coming months.

PTSD - What is it

I have been married for almost 4 long years. My husband has times of isolation of not wanting to be bother. A time when he can go without talking, stalking away and just being very hard to live with. It is very hard on myself and my son. At the time we were married my husband was a
recovering alcoholic and drug user and he though that the drugs and alcohol was the cause of his fits of anger but as time has gone by the fit comes and goes. The fits are not to the point that he is violent but at the same time they are not easy to live with. At least twice a years since we have been married one or both of us has talked about divorcing but then we work things out and everything is good for the next 2 or 3 months.

Earlier this summer my husband decided to seek help and he went to the VA for assistance. My husband is a Vietnam Vet and after talking to a few people there he has been diagnosed with PTSD ( Post Trauma Symtom Disorder) . Now I had never heard of this disorder before August but since than I have been doing research on it. Knowing the problem doesn't make it easier to deal with but at least we have a cause beside he is just being nasty which is what I though most times.

What I have found about the disorder is that it is a mental disorder that people suffer when they have been though something traumatic like war. Some of the symptoms are:

  • Making an effort to avoid thoughts, feelings, or conversations about the traumatic event;
  • A loss of interest in important, once positive, activities;
  • Feeling distant from others;
  • Experiencing difficulties having positive feelings, such as happiness or love;
  • Feeling more irritable or having outbursts of anger.
Like most mental disorders there is no cure for it and the best that can happen is medication and therapy. The doctors has been trying to tweak the dosage of the medication but the correct dosages has not been found yet. He still withdrew and irritable.

The good thing is that we know that there is help and it will take time to get this right. I just hope that I can make it that far.

I got the information on the symptoms from: http://ptsd.about.com/od/symptomsanddiagnosis/a/PTSDsymptoms.htm if you would like to read more on this disorder.
